Types Of Contaminants:

There are three types of contaminants.
  1. Bacterial Contamination
  2. Environmental Contamination
  3. Cross Contamination
1. Bacterial Contamination:

Many bacteria's can contaminate food and the most common of them are:

1. Vibrio vulnificus
2. Shigella
1. Vibrio vulnificus:

These bacteria's carried food borne illness from the contaminated sea food. They are also commonly known as Ocean Bacteria.

2. Shigella:

The most common food contaminated by these bacteria is salad and raw vegetables.

2. Environmental Contamination:

The introduction of micro organisms, chemicals and expired food stuff into water, air and soil in a concentration that makes the medium unfit for its intended use.

3. Cross Contamination:

When the bacteria are transferred from a contaminated surface to a one which is not contaminated, cross contamination takes place. Bacteria can come from people, work surface, equipment's, utensils and from other foods.
